MCI 2021 is a surface sealer for concrete that uses a mixture of reactive silicates, surface activating agents as well as migratory corrosion inhibitors from the Cortec range. The product is formulated to preserve and protect concrete using the concrete’s own chemistry. The reactive silicates penetrate the concrete just over 1 ½ inches (3.75 cm) reacting with the calcium hydroxide to form reaction products that cause more insoluble silicate structures within the concrete. These structures increase the density of the concrete, seal the surface pores and waterproof the surface. These new structures act as a barrier to chloride ion penetration and carbonation attack, also protecting from acid and alkaline attack, and the vapor diffusion capacity is not affected.

MCI2021 is designed to migrate through the pores of the structure and search for embedded metal. MCI® 2021 also protects reinforcements of steel, carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and other metals A unique feature of Migratory Corrosion Inhibitors is that if they are not in direct contact with metals, the inhibitor will migrate a considerable distance to through concrete to provide protection.
