Surface inhibitor MCI-2020

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

MCI-2020 is a surface migratory corrosion inhibitor designed to penetrate through cementitious materials including concrete, mortars and limestone. MCI-2020 migrates through its liquid and vapor phase through the pores of the structure, forming a protective monomolecular layer on the armor. The MCI-2020 protects reinforcements of steel, carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and other metals A unique feature of Migratory Corrosion Inhibitors is that if they are not in direct contact with metals, the inhibitor will migrate a considerable distance through of concrete to provide protection. The MCI-2020 stops the corrosion of metals and extends the service of the structure, against the phenomena of carbonation, chlorides and other contaminants.

There is the MCI-2020 V / O version with higher viscosity when required in roof applications.

Tests carried out under the SHRP program (SHRP S666, Corrosion Inhibitor Report, 1993) show a dramatic reduction in corrosion when the concrete has a high chloride content. At these levels nitrite-based inhibitors tend to accelerate corrosion, being effective at low levels. Additionally, MCI-2020, unlike nitrites, exhibits low toxicity, not having negative effects on the environment. MCI-2020 is water-based and has a low odor.
